Is Christ your Passover?

In our PM worship gathering our pastor spoke about God’s Word from the first letter to the Corinthians, chapter 5 where Paul wrote,

“For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us.”

Christ my Passover

Christ your Passover

Christ our Passover

The Corinthian church had lots of problems. That is why Paul wrote this letter to them – to address their concerns, give guidance and even correct egregious problems.

But at every turn his solution and his appeal is the same. He draws them always in to the Gospel.

How could one event, one Person, be so recuperative to so many ailments of the soul?

You see for the first time in history the Passover lamb was a Person not a lamb. For centuries and centuries a lamb from the fold, a lamb from the Temple approved market, a lamb from a neighbor’s field was ‘the lamb’ at the Pesach feast.

But not this time. This time a lamb was the Lamb.

How could one event, one Person, be so recuperative to so many ailments of the soul?

– because there is no need for further Passovers since Christ was and is our Passover.

– because there is a forever value in Christ our Passover which none could carry before.

– because Christ fulfilled the Passover.

– because Christ renovated the Passover.

– because Christ, by being the Passover, abolished the need for any further passovers (or sacrifices).

– because Christ our Passover gives a lasting way to be restored to God.

Easter comes later this year – April 24th – plenty of time for short glances in the Passion narratives; plenty of time to see how

Christ is our Passover,

Christ my Passover

Christ your Passover…

…sacrificed for us.
