“I Find in Christ”

I Find In Christ

 I say to the LORD,

‘You are my Lord. I have no good apart from you.’

 Psalm 16:3esv

No good have I but Thee alone,

In all the earth and heav’n above.

All goods and fame are as a stone,

that give no peace, that give no love.

Though search the farthest if I could,

I find in Christ the Greatest Good.

Content I am for Thee, my Lord,

to fill and flood this empty heart

with fragments of divine reward.

If just to have the smallest part?

Though search the longest if I could,

I find in Christ the Greatest Good.

I’ll make the most of what I hold,

to shine Thy pleasure where I stand,

In every moment till I’m old.

Through tiresome days, with weary hand,

I’ll work the hardest as I should,

For Christ, who is the Greatest Good.

All striving for myself is vain.

This hill so steep, the road so long,

to struggle for the smallest gain,

with fleeting strength that once was strong.

Why search the farthest if I could?

In Christ I have the Greatest Good.
